Toll on Prisoner Execution Teams

Today is Saturday and it’s Pepper Day, so this is my bonus post. Since it’s a weekend, I half-hoped that bloggers don’t see this post and half-hoped that they do. Earlier this week, I read an article from NPR that I felt compelled to share. The article is about the physical, emotional, and mental toll on people who prepare for executions, and then follow through.

As one of the people in the article shares, killing someone is really hard, but someone has to do it, and no one talks about the effects of this. If there is support for these teams, it’s a patchwork of inadequacies. This is a complex, multi-faceted issue. I understand if you don’t want to read it, but if you choose to, here it is:
