Today’s post for NanoPoblano is a double-duty post as it is also a submission to Carrot Ranch‘s Flash Fiction Challenge. Anyone can participate!
November 25, 2021, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write about a canceled flight. Where was the flight headed? Who does it impact and why? How does a protagonist handle the situation? Go where the prompt leads!
Daisy was deflated when she read in big red letters next to her flight. “CANCELED.” She dragged herself to the giant windows facing the grounded planes.
With snow falling fast and nearly sideways, Daisy barely made out the sparse crew. With some light eavesdropping onto the ground, she spotted something that shouldn’t have been there, and it wasn’t moving. She made haste.
In her mittens was a teeny little kitten meowing with all its might for its mama. She dropped the kitten in her pocket and searched for the kitten’s family with no luck. Hope for a better tomorrow.
