Nanotales

Summary

Nov. 30, 2020

I can’t believe I made it to the end of NanoPoblano2020.

When I signed up for this challenge, it was to write for the entire month. I wasn’t blogging regularly and stressed that I didn’t have enough topics to write about and didn’t have enough time to write quality posts. I continued to stress about this a week after NanoPoblano2020 began. In the middle of the month, I was still struggling to write posts, but not because I didn’t have topics, but because I didn’t have enough time to write.

I was right that upcycling projects, jewelry, and book reviews would not be enough to cover the entire month, so I supplemented with cheat posts.

What I call “cheat” posts are anything that I would never post on R&WH. For instance, anything that was related to politics would never end up on R&WH. Anything that that doesn’t serve to inform or show my work would never end up on R&WH. Another is when I noticed an error – R&WH is only five, not six years old – I would have deleted that post and no one else would know, like burying the witness.

When I look back at those cheat posts, I wrote with a different tone and style for non-fiction. Instead of serious or business-like, I was able to write with an air of whimsy, and for non-fiction posts, if I may add. I wouldn’t count this as growth, more like showing readers another facet of the blogger. Here are three of my favorite cheat posts:

Because I was so busy, I wasn’t able to initiate checking other participants’ blogs. The blogs that I visited were fantastic and there are so many topics and perspectives. There are so many great bloggers out there and I was just one of the lucky ones who happened to find them from reciprocating a like or comment.

I struggled so much at the beginning just to have extra (real) material at the end, and I have scheduled them so there is new content each week. I’ll save the fluff for next year’s event when I don’t know what to write about. My goal is to not post as many cheat posts next year. This year was around 33%, so pretty good.

I’m taking another leave of absence so I will visit your blogs when I return. Toodles!
