Yearning #writephoto

My second entry in Sue Vincent’s writephoto prompt.

A channel of water flowing out to sea, with the sun reflecting on the water

I don’t remember how my sister and I got into a conversation about taking a helicopter ride.

I didn’t think we would go through with it

I’m afraid of heights

And yet,

Here I am

Doing something I’ve never done before.

My stomach rumbling like bubbling lava

I clench my sister’s hand for the entire ride

If I fall, I’m taking you with me! I shouted over the loud propellers and motor

The wind on my face and through my hair,

My eyes almost closed shut

My problems seem so small from all the way up here.

Look at me doing something that scares me.

Thanks for reading.

    1. I agree, otherwise, most of the time, it would feel like facing our fears alone. Facing my fears is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
